Sodium Fulvate

The complexation products of fulvic acid in sodium fulvate with ions such as Cu²⁺ and Fe³⁺ remain hydrophilic and can stay stably dispersed in aqueous solution. This is why sodium fulvate can resist flocculation in hard water — it does not rely on external forces to prevent precipitation; rather, its molecular structure itself determines that its binding mode with metal ions is "dissolved-state complexation," not "aggregated precipitation."

Description

The binding sites between fulvic acid and metal ions are mainly carboxyl and phenolic hydroxyl groups. This binding is a form of “complexation” rather than simple “flocculation.”

The complexation products of fulvic acid with ions such as Cu²⁺ and Fe³⁺ remain hydrophilic and can stay stably dispersed in aqueous solution. This is why sodium fulvate can resist flocculation in hard water — it does not rely on external forces to prevent precipitation; rather, its molecular structure itself determines that its binding mode with metal ions is “dissolved-state complexation,” not “aggregated precipitation.”

Sodium fulvate addresses the issue of ordinary sodium humate tending to flocculate in hard water. In agriculture, it is commonly used as a soil conditioner and fertilizer synergist, helping to improve soil aggregate structure and enhance nutrient use efficiency. In animal husbandry and aquaculture, it can also be used as a feed additive or water quality conditioner. In addition, it finds applications in industrial fields such as water treatment and drilling fluids.

Scope of Application: Intensive ponds, reservoirs, lakes, rice fields, and lotus ponds — suitable for both freshwater and seawater systems.

Target Species: Fish, shrimp, crabs, frogs, sea cucumbers, loaches, rice field eels, soft-shelled turtles, shellfish, and other aquatic animals.

Dosage and Application:

  1. This product can be used in both sunny and rainy conditions; Flake form is used for water conditioning — fully dissolve and broadcast evenly across the pond; granular form is used for bottom improvement — broadcast directly and allow it to sink for slow release.

  2. Recommended dosage: based on a water depth of 1 meter, apply 1-2 kg per mu.

  3. During the early farming stage, apply once every 10-15 days; during the mid-to-late stage, apply once every 7 days or so.

  4. The above are recommended methods and dosages. In actual use, please adjust according to water deterioration conditions, seawater salinity, farmed species, climate, and other factors.

Precautions:

  1. After application, water color will darken and remain so for several days. This is a normal phenomenon.

  2. Factors such as water pH, seawater salinity, and algae density can affect the product’s water solubility, dissolution rate, and the duration of the water color change.

1. Rich in Low-Molecular-Weight Active Functional Groups: Sodium fulvate contains abundant low-molecular-weight active functional groups, including carboxyl and phenolic hydroxyl groups. This molecular structure gives it strong reactivity and good water solubility, allowing it to function effectively at low application rates.

2. Possesses Chelating and Complexing Properties for Metal Cations: Sodium fulvate can chelate and complex with metal cations such as calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, and copper. This helps convert sparingly soluble elements into more readily available forms, reducing precipitation and improving nutrient availability in liquid systems.

3. Improves the Stability of Liquid Fertilizer Formulations: Sodium fulvate helps maintain the stability of liquid fertilizer formulations by preventing flocculation and precipitation in hard water conditions. Its dissolved-state complexation mechanism keeps metal ions dispersed in solution, extending product shelf life and reducing the risk of clogging in drip irrigation systems.

4. Provides a Buffering Effect for the Growing Medium: Sodium fulvate provides a buffering effect for the growing medium, helping to stabilize pH fluctuations in the root zone. This contributes to a more consistent root environment and supports nutrient availability across varying soil conditions.

5. Modifies the Physical and Chemical Properties of Rhizosphere Substrate: Sodium fulvate modifies both the physical and chemical properties of the rhizosphere substrate. Physically, it assists in forming soil aggregates and improving porosity; chemically, it enhances cation exchange capacity and helps retain nutrients in the root zone, creating a more favorable environment for root development.

6. Compatible with a Wide Range of Fertilizer Raw Materials for Compound Mixing: Sodium fulvate is compatible with a wide range of fertilizer raw materials, including nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, medium and trace elements, and amino acid materials. Under normal application concentrations and recommended ratios, it can be blended directly into compound fertilizer formulations without causing precipitation or separation.
